“The indoor pool here is amazing. I swim a mile every other day and a half-mile on the off days. I use the fitness room when I want to push weights or use the resistance machines. I mean, I’m not buff stuff by any stretch, but I feel good.”

Short-term rehabilitation frequently asked questions

Physical therapy focuses on identifying and treating the biomechanical symptoms of an illness or injury. The goal of physical therapy is to increase mobility and manage pain.

It’s similar in that it helps restore strength and mobility. But whereas physical therapy focuses on movement and body mechanics, occupational therapy places greater emphasis on increasing or maintaining a person’s ability to perform activities of daily living (ADLs) – grooming, dressing, bathing, etc.

Speech therapy addresses communication issues and swallowing difficulties. Speech therapy can be beneficial in identifying communication strategies, working on improving and maintaining cognitive function and memory, and providing dietary options for those with impaired swallowing abilities.
