Events / Culture
Located near Renton, Redmond, Lake Sammamish and approximately 15 miles from downtown Seattle, Issaquah combines small-town warmth and a wealth of activities nearby, making it the ideal location for a vibrant community like Timber Ridge.
The
Issaquah Historical Society keeps history alive by preserving
such architectural treasures as the Issaquah Depot Museum, built
in 1888 and restored by volunteers to reflect its original appearance.
Often referred to as an "icon" of the Issaquah area,
the 1887 Pickering Barn is on the National Register of Historic
Places. It is also the site of the popular Issaquah Public Market
offering farm-fresh produce, handcrafted goods and a lively atmosphere
from springtime through autumn.
Salmon
Days Festival
Perhaps the most famous area
event is the annual Salmon Days Festival, which commemorates
the return of salmon to area lakes, streams and Issaquah's
downtown hatchery in early October, attracting more than
150,000 visitors. The Issaquah Chamber of Commerce presents
the festival, which includes a grand parade, 400 food
and arts booths, live music, a salmon bake, 10K and 5K
running events, and more.
Whether you decide to stroll along tree-lined streets, meet friends
for coffee at the Olde Town Bakery or take in an original musical
at the regionally and nationally recognized Village Theatre, you'll
find plenty to enjoy in colorful Issaquah.
There are approximately 30 places of worship in the area of various denominations.
